Traditional Chinese Music - PiPa Solo by Wu Jun Sheng (CD) Mr. Wu Jun Sheng was born in the city of Wuqing in HeBei province. He graduated with superb academic achievements from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing where he studied Pipa under the noted musician, Lin ShiCheng. He was then assigned to teach at the Conservatory, where he remained a renowned member of the faculty until 1996. For several decades, Professor Wu has been active on stage in China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan, and he has been praised by the NHK state TV station in Tokyo as the "Number 1 Pipa Virtuoso in China". As a teacher, Professor Wu is respected and greatly admired. He has students in virtually every province in China as well as abroad. He has also contributed a great number of compositions for Pipa, many of which have been widely published and garnished prestigious awards. His great contributions in performing, teaching and composing have earned him the State Special Allowance, issued by the State Council of the People's Republic of China to a very few selected persons for life.
